storemore establishes itself as a self-storage leader
As reported in La Mirada Norte by LMN/J.Muñoz
Storemore, located in Alcobendas and San Sebastián de los Reyes, has established itself as a leader in self-storage, moving services and coworking spaces. With a wide range of services and the recognition of two FEDESSA 2023 awards (European Self-Storage Association), Storemore is a European example of excellence and innovation in the self-storage sector.
Q-Who is storemore?
A-In just two years since the birth of storemore, we have established the largest keyless storage center in Spain, with more than 3,500 units with electronic locks. Our Proptech approach has allowed us to lead in the digital transformation of self-storage.
Our business model is based on three fundamental pillars: innovation, transparency and sustainability. This is reflected in our offer of storage rooms and mini warehouses for both individuals and companies, providing flexibility and security through a system of electronic locks controlled by a mobile application.
Focused on ecommerce, we are the first coworking offering in Madrid aimed at this sector. Our solutions are designed to meet the specific needs of these customers, offering a pleasant and functional workplace, with the ease of receiving and storing large-scale orders.
In addition, we are committed to environmental sustainability, installing solar panels in our centers and using energy from 100% renewable sources. Our vision is to minimize the carbon footprint in construction and be the first self-storage company in Spain with a BREEAM certified centre.
Q – How does storemore contribute to the local community?
A – storemore contributes significantly to the local Alcobendas community through various initiatives focused on sustainability and respect for the environment. The company is governed by principles of respect and preservation of the environment, promotion of responsible and sustainable consumption, promotion of environmental awareness and a firm commitment to sustainable development.
We collaborate with Alcobendas associations such as FUNDAL and AICA. We also have sponsorships with teams such as Club Patín de Alcobendas, Rayo Alcobendas F.C., Carranza or our Juventud Sanse fry. We have committed to the Alcobendas City Council with the “Alcobendas Zero Footprint” pact, which seeks to reduce the carbon footprint and promote a carbon neutral future for Spain.
This extraordinary union has allowed us to carry out environmental support such as cleaning Valdelatas Park, Solidarity Tournaments such as the Menina Trophy in collaboration with UNICEF, or Women’s Week: Sports and entrepreneurship.
Through collaboration with FUNDAL, Storemore becomes an active player in promoting sustainable environmental practices in the storage sector. Together, we work on projects that seek to minimize the environmental impact and promote sport.
The alliance with AICA reinforces Storemore’s commitment to local development, participating in initiatives that go beyond the commercial sphere. We participate in the Interempresas route of AICA (Alcobendas Business Association) to connect our headquarters with public transport points (metro, commuter trains), and facilitate their access to our employees.
Promoting electric mobility is a sustainable initiative that benefits both the community and the environment. At storemore we promote the use of electric vehicles, not only with vehicle charging points, but also by encouraging the use of lighter vehicles, such as bicycles or electric scooters, for example.
This gave us the idea of holding raffles to give away scooters to our clients. Being free of polluting emissions, they promote a lifestyle that respects the environment and contributes to improving air quality.
storemore San Sebastián de los Reyes’ collaboration with ACENOMA and its sponsorship of the Juventud Sanse youth team are clear examples of the company’s deep-rooted commitment to the local community. By partnering with ACENOMA, storemore demonstrates its support for the association of merchants and businessmen, contributing to the economic development of the area. This collaboration not only strengthens commercial ties, but also creates beneficial synergies for the local business community. Additionally, sponsorship of the Juventud Sanse youth team reflects storemore’s aim to support young talent and promote sporting activity in the community. We are now in the second year of collaboration with this team and we hope here will be many more.
What awards has storemore received?
storemore was recognised at the 2023 FEDESSA (European Self Storage Association) awards in the Independent Store and Expansion of the Year categories for our innovation and excellence in the self-storage sector. Established in July 2021, storemore has brought more than 10 years of experience in the storage industry in Spain and Latin America to revolutionize the customer experience in the sector. Our vision was to create a world-class operator that would change how customers experience our storage, integrating technology and fine-tuning service details, similar to what Uber did in the transportation industry.
In just two years, we have managed to exceed occupancy expectations, becoming market leaders in smart storage with more than 3,500 units with electronic locks. Our focus on digital development has allowed us to be pioneers in the sector, offering differentiated experiences that increase customer conversion.
Our facilities in Alcobendas and San Sebastián de los Reyes are examples of fourth generation, digital storage that integrate with their communities. In Alcobendas, we have transformed a former printing workshop into a visually appealing warehouse building that sets a new standard in the industry with excellent ESG credentials and a low carbon footprint. This approach includes initiatives such as application-controlled access, 365 days a year, significantly improving the user experience and perception of our service.
In terms of security, we have CCTV security cameras that operate 24 hours a day and advanced electronic locks on each storage unit, ensuring that only authorized customers have access. We also have an innovative LoRaWAN® temperature and humidity sensor system, which allows users to see these figures in real time.
Committed to a more sustainable future, we have installed 60 solar panels in Alcobendas, which allows us to provide 70% of the energy we need and possibility of recharging electric vehicles at our loading and unloading docks.
In San Sebastián de los Reyes, we have installed 165 solar panels, which allows us to generate approximately 110,286 kWh per year. This, together with the use of LED lights, allows us to avoid the emission of 745 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to removing more than 7,500 combustion cars from circulation and planting 2,111 trees in 25 years.
This innovative and sustainable approach in the transformation and expansion of our facilities demonstrates our ability to overcome challenges and offer the best customer service, which has ultimately earned us the FEDESSA 2023 awards.
Finally, storemore is working to be the first self-storage company in Spain with a BREEAM Excellent certified center, something more common in the office sector, which demonstrates a full commitment to the environment and an extremely positive impact on the community of Alcobendas.
